Fixing A Smelly Bathroom

Hello
I have a rehab that is complete, and listed on the mls. This rehab was its own stress factory.
I have an upstairs bathroom, that smells worst than rotten eggs when flushed. I have a little cash left, so I am looking for a Do It Yourself approach, that is inexpensive.
I have been approached with 2 solutions. 1. leaving the window open always, and placing a vent. or 2. going into the drywall, and connecting a vent to the outside.
If there are other methods to solve this problem, please share.
Thank you.

If I'm understanding correctly, it sounds like that there may be more to the problem than a "simple solution" would fix. If the toilet smells bad just from flushing (as opposed to any human "additions" to the bowl), then it's possible that there is either a septic/sewage problem, a drainage issue, or a clog somewhere within the pipes.

This sounds like some type of trap or vent issue. Check the easy fix first which would be to make sure your stacks are clear onthe roof...no bird nest etc. Is the water itself smelling like sulfur? It would be more pronounced coming fro the bowl but I'm sure it would also smell some where else. Forget doing an air vent...you need to find the source and eliminate it...not bypass it.
