Fireproofing Wood Wainscoting Without Paint?
I have a mutiunit with great looking wainscoating half way up the walls in the main stairway. The fire marshall is making me cover it with a "Class A" coating for fire proofing. In other properties that I have seen people have just slapped ugly looking expensive paint($50/gallon) on it. Does anyone know of a clear coating that meets the fire proofing requirment?
There are clear materials but will have to be recoated in 12 - 18 months.
Below are distributors that have fire retardant additives for latex paint. Inquire with them to be sure about their additives in each of flat or semi gloss paint.
Ask the fire marshall what flame retardant standard is being applied to the wainscotting ? NFPA std ##, ASTM ## ???
