Finding Good Legal Help?

michaelverbeek profile photo

I am just started out in the rehab business and have not bought my first project yet. I have found a good lender and insurance company. I am now at the stage of finding good legal help. I have heard about some good legal advice web sites. Should I try that route or should I be looking for a attorney in my area? What's the best way to go?

    Welcome aboard,

This will be moved to the legal section in a few days but to answer your question.

My vote is to keep it local.
Chances are that what ever problem may arise has been dealt with before in your area......knowing what previous outcomes were in your local area may dictate on how you will tackle the problem.

In my experience ( and I have a lot more experience hiring and paying lawyers than I wish i had) - you should always use an attorney that you can 'connect' with.

Ask for referrals from your mortgage co, and insurance agent - look in the phone book - then take the time and go meet these people - despite common knowledge, attorneys are really people and they can be much mroe effective for you if you can comminucate clearly and naturally.
