condemned by MOLD

Hello.

I noticed a property in my town that is vacant and has a sign on it stating it is unhealthful to enter the premises because of mold (sign posted by the city).

Is this a potentially good property? Should I contact the owners?

Can the mold be dealt with, without destroying the house? Any idea how much it would cost and who I would speak with about the procedure?

Any advice is appreciated. I'm very new at this.

thanks!

I'm a newbie in the biz also, but I do have some experience w/mold...we had it in our home. Mold is a hot topic right now, so it scares most...it's really not that bad...just over-rated. It can be handled. Professionals (remediation specialists) will cost you a small fortune; however, it can be dealt w/by individuals also. Cleaning instructions can be found on the web and simple home test kits can be purchases at your local hardware store. Get a professional to check it out (usually free) and make your decision from there.

Have you pulled the city report on the property?? To find out exactly the extend of the damage? Maybe it was shut down for only a small amount of mold.[ Edited by WildFlower on Date 04/16/2003 ]
