Buying Homes With Unfinished Basements
I’m interested in purchasing homes with unfinished basements. My thought is to finish the basements by adding new carpet, sheetrock, paint etc. and possibly add an egress window to make more bedrooms. Is there a rule of them as to how much the value of the house will increase by doing this? I was wondering if this is a sound strategy to build some quick capitol. Is anyone out there doing this same thing? Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Do you know any appraisers? I would contact one first and ask them how finished basements effect appraised values.
