Brick House Wall Moving?
I was replacing a front door today on a rehab thats about 25 years old. It's a brick ranch and as I was pulling the molding off the old door I noticed that the leverage of my wonder bar was moving the whole brick wall. Needless to say I thought they used those metal strips between the mortar that attach to the house itself to keep that from happening. I don't notice anything out of alignment or cracks in the wall.. Any one else ever run into this? This is about my 6th door on a brick house and I never seen this before. Saw it once on an indoor fireplace that they had bolts going through the wall to anchor it.
Don't sweat it.......and don't pry on it either.
It's just a typical brick veneer....not structural. But you don't want to dislodge it and have to re-mortar.
I've budged a many a'one.
Thanks JC...it just kinda freaked me out when I'm prying on the brick molding and the brick starts moving :-D
