Basement Question

i was wondering if anyone had any ideas with what to do with an unfinshed basement. Iam making an offer on a house tommrow, the house iam trying to get has an unfinshed basement. However the ceilings are only 7 feet so i dont think you can put carpet and another bathroom in. I was tryig to think of something becuase other houses in the neighborhood finished their basement off and made another 1000sf out it. Anyideas with the staging?

In my years restoring homes i have seen many basement projects that have failed. Basements are usually quite different than that of the rest of the house in terms of humidity and temperature. Sheetrock, paneling and even paint can fail unless the conditions of the basement can be controlled. Your best bet for walls is pine paneling, stained and clear coat finished and you can easily make whole sections removeable to access any thing behind them. Installed properly tile floors will last the longest and is the easiest to clean and if you want a rug down there you can lay down an area rug that can be easily rolled up and taken out to clean or replace.

enterianment rooms/ home theaters are rather propular use of basement space.

Is it somewhat divided into room already or a big open space?
