Yes, I recieve about three a day. They can be quite annoying.

Why are we getting them? I have two theories...
Somewhere a long the line we signed up for a free newsletter with a decoy site...offering a free ebook, article, or program download. The probably send emails based on the content of what we had originally signed up for...target spamming. Its not unlikely, that we signed up for info on investing or lending and therefore are the target of loan scams.

The other possibility is that they obtained our email addresses from an auction site or forum site. I once came across this program that would search forum sites for keywords and contact information (email). Again, this is a way that scammers can target their marks.

Several a day? I have only received one in about two years on this site. But I stick to the forums and articles.

These are routine in the email world of today. Unfortunate but a reality none the less. I suggest adding the sender to your Junk Mail list. Most of these idiots are associated, without their knowledge, with "autogenerated" email systems which collect email addresses for either malicious attacks or worse a marketing campaign. Their are also email filters which you must define an acceptable "senders" list. These can be become a headache to maintain especially for those random emails you want but were filtered out. I have a script which, once a message(s) is selected, will put the sender in the Junk mail list, and delete any msgs from that person(s). My list of blocked senders is very long now but I believe, I have no hard data to prove, it has been an effective effort.
    Best of Luck

This type of e-mail is most unfortunate. I to have received similar e-mails. I always add them to my junk filter. I find it to be amazing to receive the exact same e-mail format from several people and they are seldom generated in the united States.

She was probably just trying to start a conversation, albeit with a stupid comment.
