Room For Rent

Does anyone know the rules for renting out a room? Can I rent out all the rooms individually? I live in SW Florida, any input would be greatly apreciated. Thanks

Are you going to be living there?

You need to call the local zoning office and the local agency responsible for issuing rental permits. More than likely they are going to say no, most people just do it without getting the local gov't invovled.

    Thanks guys,
Well, I was going to live there at first and rent out the other room(s), and then rent my room when I move. Maybe I'll just fly under the radar.

I assume you live in Florida?

Here is the 2004 rental statutes for the state of Florida.

In no place does it discuss need for any permits. The statutes appear to support your renting just rooms as if they were a unit. Word the lease carefully though, you need to specify what the tenants are allowed access too and what they are not.
