  There are hundreds of good books!
  What area of real estate are you wanting to learn more about?
  Rentals? Commercial? Foreclosures?
  Library is a great source of books. It won't hurt the wallet, either.

  One of the best I found (and I read about 10) was this one:
  
  The Unofficial Guide to Real Estate Investing (2nd ed)
  
  by Strauss.
  
  It doesn't rely on weird no money down strategies, just gives you a wealth of advice as a beginner. I have bought it for others, and recommended it often.

  In addition to what you can order...
  
  Check the local library. I have found many titles in local libraries. Some are even the older ones that you can not find anywhere else. If you happen to like an author you can then search for other books they have written.
  
  Similar to browsing at the bookstores (the large one). Just sit and read a bit to see which authors seem to make sense to you.
