Adding To An Existing Rental Contract

Can I add new clauses to my existing tenent contract? She moved in 1 month ago, and I would feel more secure having tenant sign a page saying I am not responible for any lawsuits a a result of damage to other peoples property caused by tenent.
After reading a horror story on this web site about a tnant damaging neighbors car, the neighbor wanted to sue the owner, not the tenant.

You could also have the tenant sign an agreement that is not part of the lease (for this year). It would at least be something!

you may already have protection...if your property is in a homeowners assoc. & your lease states that they must conform to their covenants & restrictions...they may cover that...check it...CWal

When you get the Judge to rule in your favor then the Marshal does the rest. Find out the closest Marshal for your area and call them to pick up the Court order. The fee could be from$40.to 60 per trip they have to make to the tenant. Some times they have police cars be present. This is the Law in Connecticut check for your State and go accordingly.

You might want to check your addendum to the agreement provided by the housing authority. There is wording in mine that prohibits eviction of the tenant because the Housing Authority is not paying. You did not say why they were not paying. I have had terrible luck dealing with Section 8 in Indianapolis.

make sure you follow the eviction procedures by the book or it could backfire on you.

if the apartment failed inspection it is your responsibility and YOU are at fault. if you are receiveing money from sec 8 then you MUST have the apartment in proper order. you alone are the reason this woman is having a difficult time. i cant believe that someone paying you 650 for an apartment would have anything wrong with it that would cause it to fail a sec 8 inspection. they are really pretty basic. you should slap yourself real good and shape up, shame on you! if i was her lawyer i would sue you. please share with me how may units in this building and what is your mortage payment.[ Edited by tmesa on Date 07/17/2005 ]
