Residential Property Insurance

ruffrage1 profile photo

I am in the middle of purchasing a 32 unit apt. complex, and am having trouble finding anyone locally who will insure it.

Does anyone have any leads on insurers, and what should I look for in a policy. What types of coverage, deductibles, and premiums are typical? How much should I insure it for?

I am buying the complex for $662,000.00. It is 50 years old, constructed of brick and shingle siding.

Thanks,

Scott

Also, check for a local REIA group for referral(s) to Agents that understand REI...

Is there a reason you need a local insurer as opposed to one of the large national firms?

    Hi Finnigan,

I think you are confusing "agent" and "company/carrier". The Agency represents the company/carrier(s). I recommend finding an Agent that understands REI, no matter where they are located. They are tough to find, so a logical first choice is your local REIA group.

No, there is no reason. I was just looking for specific names of insurers who handle commercial properties, and have good rates. Does anyone know of one.

    Thanks,

    Scott
