Horrible Experience With Real Estate Agents In New York

doll profile photo

This past week I had traveled to new york looking for investment properties and had no luck with the real esate agents. I tried with century21, prudential, remax, and caldwell banker, they were all horrible. They were not responsive, not professional and lots of attitude. I am wondering if anyone knows of a good real estate agent that is serious about there job in new york, long island(nassau county), and also friendly to investors. Any information provided would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have always had great dealings with united country in every state. There name is there web address. I havent dealt with New york's offices though. Dont forget New york's attitude in general is hard for out of towners to understand. They usually come across sort of brackish. Sort of like a M&M once you break the shell they are pretty soft.

    Good Luck,

    Hey doll,

I'm an agent, and a future investor, I've taken a few classes at Baruch on RE Investing and Finance. Perhaps we can work together in the future. I have a second job so I'm not desparate for money, and I am very serious about learning about investing, and hopefully doing some deals in the future.

I hope that I haven't broken any protocols or etiquette by saying this.

I have two investment properties in Brooklyn, NY and Queens, NY. Just be aware that EVERYTHING is a little bit harder to do in NY. Financing is a big headache and taxes are not favorable to REI or tax payers in general. If you are going to do REI in NY make sure you talk to a good accountant and lawyer based in NYC. Things just run differently in NY. i.e. I live in California where everything goes through a title company. In NY you have to go through lawyers. Closing costs in NY can really run you dry. ps. Though they don't focus on investment property the corcoran (there website is the same) group is really good. Top notch agents.

    Dear Doll,

Just why are you going all the way to New York to invest when you are in the garden spot of the world. Belmont in Sunny, Rainy, Confused and now Germanic, California?

Why not just stay here. Besides you understand the accent.

Why not expose on line just what it is you want to do and wether you are trying some non cash investment of the risky kind or wether you want something you can use a little cash and a bunch of smarts and make money. Just spell out a requirement and all the people on TCI will bury you in advice and an occasional friendly good wish.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I currently have a few investment properties in new york. They are coops and condos. I am trying to expand my investment properties to multi unit homes -starting with a legal 2 family home w/ a fininshed basement w/ ose. The area I am looking in is forest hills, kew garden and rego park. To my knowledge this is a high demand area. The rents are high and its a sellers market. Imo, and also from all the research that I did, it is still a good area to invest in. The roi is still at least 25% after deducting all the expenses. I am simply looking for a real estate agent who can assist me with locating investment properties. Ofcourse, I like the agent to be responsive, professional and knowledgeable as well. I dont think that is too much to ask, do you?

I understand and on behalf of the airlines may I extend their thanks for all the money you are expending.

But your area of the world should be capable of producing the same sort of investment.

San Francisco, if I were living near by I might stick my neck into the prducing of lofts for lease to artsy types at high prices. Utilizing some lovely by passed ex manufacturing buildings located in areas that are changing as the talented newly rich search for display lofts. You know can't get a gallery to give a show so you fix up a loft. Go non realistic total abstract, throw paint on the ceilings and wall, call it art and give very fashionable little parties for the non talented, uninformed with money to spend. I saw it. Looks like fun. Does not this whet your interest. Doll Person.

    Doll,

I live in Nassau, work in Nassau, but don't particularly like investing here. If you want a good broker in Nassau, you have to go local, I mean, there are no county firms that deal with all of Nassau. I'm not a broker, but I've lived here all my life. What town are you looking to invest in? Remember 1 thing... the schools are the most important part of residential renting in nassau. They dictate property calue better than castro in cuba. Lemme know what you're interested in and perhaps I can help.
