I am looking at purchasing a mobile home. How do I find out if there is a federal tax lein on the mobile home? Is there a websight or phone # I can use in Minnesota?

Since a MH without land is handled just about exactly like a car, so far as I know, no liens are ever recorded on title except for lender's liens for purchase money.

You can quickly learn what liens ARE on the title by lookng at the seller's title...and when you buy, and take new title transfer to the title transfer desk at your courthouse, they can tell you in a flash is there are any outstanding MH personal prop taxes, as they won't let you transfer the title until those are paid..

You will need to do a title search with the Department of Motor Vehicles to be sure of a clear title.

The Fed's can place lein's on all real and or personal property.

You may want to search the Ucc1 agreements at the recorders office as well under the owners name.
