Can any one tell me who I should contact to buy a condemmed house?



Is value of the whole property drop down when a house condemmed?

    It depends on where and the reason for the condemnation. Here in Lansing they will red tag a house for just about anything. So sometimes it is as simple as applying for a permit that was neglected, and sometimes you pretty much have to tear the house down.

    Tearing down a house is expensive- costs more than a lot is worth here. Most people in this situation just let the city have it for taxes and fines.

    Who you contact is the owner of record- look in the register of deeds at the county courthouse, or go to the real property tax office, assessors office, or whatever it is called in your area and ask who pays the taxes.
