Do you get public records such as divorces, leins, deaths, etc.. from the county courthouse?

Yes you do... You should look for the clerk and ask them where the Recorders office is - sometimes its also called the file room, the vault, etc. Just ask where to find all the real estate public records!

    Good Luck!

I have one other question, do they charge for these records?

  • kingston20th October, 2004

If you want copies I know they sometimes like my courthouse first five pages free and thereafter it's like 15 cents a page

You may also be able to view those documents online depending on your county and print out in your office or home you may want to check with your recorder's office to see if their online yet

    Good Luck

Thanks for the info, I just called my county courthouse and they said that their information is all mixed up, so i cant go through tax liens, divorce, etc.. its a mix of all judgements and its 50cents per copy...

Id like to think of this as a last resort.. do you know if there are any other ways to get this information?

yeah, its the same in my county. all the judgments, leins, Lis Pends. are all mixed up and the clerks wont get any info for you unless you have a name, address, or case number. so i go to my town hall and they have a very updated computer system. I type in Lis Pendens and all leins and judgments come up. and i can search by date. then i can bring a few of the good ones to the courthouse and get the rest of the picture. the clerks at the court house get really anoid if you ask for more then 5 and they dont let you get them yourself. oh well. hope this helps [ Edited by ZinOrganization on Date 11/02/2004 ]
