Phone Script For Answering Services

I am trying to come up with a phone script or a line of questions for receptionist to ask people who call our 800 number. We are going to have bandit signs but work full time jobs so we will not be able to answer the phone all the times. Rather than lose out on deals we want a live person to pick up the phone. We are just not sure what we should tell that person to say or what info to get from the caller. Any help would be appreciated. Also if anyone is using a similar service we are looking for one that is not that expensive.

    Thanks for the response. I was torn between the 24 hour recorded message as well as the answering service. Currently bandit signs are my only advertising. My classified ads are really for building my buyers list. I think I will try the 24 hr rec message to start out seeing how it is much more cost efficient. Thanks for the detailed response.
