Talk about self-absorbed?! I am just starting to market my investing plan here in the Gateway City. I was going to sell my mobile office (hi-mile Taurus wagon) and get a nice late model MBZ E320 wagon (Ebay junkie, another story). Now I'm having second thoughts about how my "I buy houses" signs will be perceived. What d ya'll think??

"Just another average Joe trying to make a living"

"Warren B's my buddy & I've got gobs of cash in my pocket to buy your house"

oh oh

I see plenty of Cadillacs, etc... in the parking lot at REIA meetings with the signs...must work for a bunch. I think the nicer car (within reason) will 'cause people to think you must know what you are doing... Personally, I think I would use a magnetic sign, so you can remove it when you need/want to do so...

Good thought. I thought about using vinyl non-sticky ones on the inside of the windows....... and get a bullet-proof one for those occasional trips in the hood.

However on the serious side, maybe you could write almost all the expense off if the signs are permanent.[ Edited by plumzany on Date 01/09/2004 ]

You can write your auto off with or without a sign. If you use it for business, then it is a business expense, therefore a write-off.

Bill's right, the sign doesn't have anything to do with the deductibility.

This has to do with "who you are". Who do you feel more comfortable being? Is your approach consistant with your appearance, etc....

I am a very big believer in "dressing for who you want to be" not for who you are.

I know that auto expense is deductable. My accountant once told me that, in an audit, the IRS will not allow 100% if the car is used personally. But, If it's signed, you can make a case for 100%. I was audited back in the early 80's. I still have nightmares!! (twich, twitch)
