Finding Lists Of Homeowners In Default

Is there a way to find names of homeowners that are behind on their payments, but the NOD has not been issued yet? Does it only become public information once they are in pre-foclosure officially? Thanks for the help.

    Hi, Daniil

I am going out on a limb and suggest that such lists would be very hard to obtain. The reason being is that there could be significant liability on the part of a lender who is spreading the word that a specific individual is behind on payments. One possibility is that there are companies who sell lists of individuals who order certain classes of products (I believe that there is a major list provider in Nebraska). You might see if there are lists of people who have used expensive financing such as Household Finance. This might be an indicator that someone is struggling financially but does definitively indicate that they are behind in mortgage payments. I have bought specific lists in the past but not in connection with RE purchases. This is just a wild shot since I have not heard of anyone using these lists to find motivated sellers.
