Option Consideration Payments

Is the option consideration always paid in full up front, or could it be split into some number of payment over a period of time?

    hi,
    i am also a newby but i did read somewhere that you can ask the owner if the down payment can be streched and added into the monthly payments. but i think you still have to give some sort of option consideration. it gives incentive to the seller to allow you to use the option.
