Quit Claim Deeds

My husband and I are purchasing a house, but it is in my husbands name only. At closing I am going to be required to sign a quit claim deed. What does that mean? Did I give up all rights to the property? I went thru a messy divorce back in 92 and don't want want to got thru that again, however, I am currently not working and am a stay at home mom and want to make sure that if something God forbide was to happen, with Idaho being a communtiy property state does that protect me and some interest in the house?

    garpetdem,

    Glad to meet you.

If you sign a Quit Claim deed you will be signing over any interest you have in the property to your spouse.

    QUIT CLAIM DEED:
A conveyance which releases any interest the conveying party may have in a property without any warranty as to that party's claim.
