my mortgage broker recently refinanced my mothers home. To save us money on closing and having to use an attorney, he used someone in notary. ? does anyone know of this and how i can do the same, are these just regular notaries or do they have a certain name that i have to look them up by, thanks again

Notaries in Mexico and many other Countries are like an attorney, but in the US a notary can only acknowledge a document, but not draft or advise about a transaction.

The lender will decide if an attorney is required. I have purchased homes in NJ without an attorney. A title company can do the work for you or you can do it yourself if you want to take the risk or have the know how.
