Divorce and Quit Claim Deeds

LisaRV profile photo

I am in the middle of a divorce and will be buying a home soon - unfortunately before the divorce is final. I've been told I need my soon-to-be-ex to sign a Quit Claim Deed. Is this something I can do without a lawyer?? Does anyone know where I can find this form?

Any help would be appreciated - thanks!

    LisaRV,

    Glad to meet you.

I would go to the Court House in your area and check in the Law Library, most Court Library's have forms that are State Specific that you can get a copy of.

You can also try a Title Company, explain your situation they will have also have the Quit Claim Deed.

This is a rather simple form, however it does need to be filled out correctly, so that problems do no come up later on.

As far as an Attorney is concerned, a Para Legal should be able to type up the Deed if you are short on funds or maybe someone at the Court House or Title Company may assist you, just make sure you are not asking for legal advice, just help in filling out the Deed.
