Where is the county clerk?

I keep reading to go to the courthouse or the county clerk to get a public listing of people who have defaulted on their loans, or who are in one of the other phases of forclosure. How do I find the location of the county clerks office? I have checked on official county websites and nothing. Can someone please help me?

Perhaps it's called something different in your neck of the woods.

The 'county clerk' or "registrar" will be located in your County seat. If you don't have counties, then go to your local government's office (mayor, councilman, assemblyman, etc.) and ask where documents (deeds, mortgages, judgments) are recorded.... they'll direct you to a more centralized location for your local government's seat.

In my area we call it the Clerk of courts office. Usually located in the courthouse of the Couty seat. Also check your local auto title office. In my area the Clerk of courts runs this to and they can point you in the right location.

    Good Luck,
