WA State - Redemption Period On A Judicial Sale

CAT3933 profile photo

Sherrif sale held - no bids. I want to purchase the property from the bank if possible, there is a 8 month redemption period on the paperwork, but the previous owner died in April 03 and the property is vacant...his heirs could exercise the redemption but none have come forward (or there are none) in any of the process so far. The attorney is telling me that if I purchase I cannot take possession until the 8 month period is over . I am wondering if I buy could I take possesion knowing that I would not want to make any investment in the property until the period was complete>??? Please tell me what you know??

No you can not take possession of the subject property until the right of redemption has expired

I would suggest checking probate to be sure that there is no pending action as well.

Your attorney gave you good advice.
