Some One Stole My Tools!!!

jpchapboy profile photo

I left my tools at my rehab house and some one broke in and stole most of them. I HATE that:-x .They didn't take my wrenches and dewalt 12" miter box, but they took my air compressor and nail guns. Mostly it was all from Harbor Freight so it was really cheap stuff. I don't know why some one would steal a $100 air compressor and leave a $300 saw.
Moral: never leave your stuff in an uninhabited house. The cop put it this way: if you cant afford to lose it don't leave it.

Better luck to the rest of you.
Josh
P.S. anybody have any suggestions to get some $$ from insurance?

First of all I am sorry to hear your luck.

    Good news about the saw.

Personally I would NEVER turn in a claim for a $100 or even multiples of that.

All it will do is raise your rates or worse yet cause them to drop you.

Better to save it incase you get a BIG hit some day.

I do not know in what town you were in where you lost the tools. But here we have a dividing line. If the rents are under $2,000 a month we do not even leave the lock box on premises over night. If we get in the highly hostile areas which I try to avoid, we leave one of our highly dedicated semi demi skilled labors to spend the night with the dog, inside the wire fence, with the lights that turn on in answer to a movement. It is hostile. My instructions are not to fight, just call 911. The dog of course has his own agenda. He bites. I dont mind his bite its his breath!

You got it easy. When I had my construction company I hired a contractor do a simple drywall job. They completely screwed it up. I told them I would not pay them because it was going to cost me at least $5,000 just to fix what they screwed up and replace the materials. Well just my luck, I showed one of these guys where my tool depot was stored and informed them of two other projects I was working on. They stole about $60,000.00 worth of tools and equipment overnight. $60,000.00!!!! Thinking about it gets me rather aggravated. I did what I supposed to do with the cops and a police report but I never saw those guys again. Life happens and you learn.

    Something to think about.

It wouldn't be a $100 claim. I have already spent over $500 replacing what I lost and I'm not done yet. I am not going after insurance though. Sure glad it wasn't $60,000. I cant imagine what all you had???
