Sheriff Sale- If Property Taxes Are Behind?

house2house profile photo

Hi,
If a house is at the Sheriff Sale, and I know property taxes are not paid for the last year, does the winning bidder have to pay the back property taxes?

Thank you

I( would clarify with the Sheriff's office. My impression is that you would be liable for back taxes, and other liens. It is not like a foreclosure where the slate is wiped clean.

    64 ford,

Idon't know how your state works, but in CA, nothing wipes out the back taxes. Not sheriff's Sale or forclosure. The winning bidder takes 'Subject to' back taxes.
