I don't know what state you are in but, in NY, they have what they call "Public Administrators" - they are employees of the state/city and there job is to handle the estates of people that left no will. The great thing about this is they also from time to conduct auctions for the property after the estate has been managed. You can be place yourself on their mailing list just by asking.
