There are a lot of good posts on this site, and they will give you a wealth of information. You might want to read some and if you are still unclear, then ask a multi forked question. There are many ways to do what you are asking. The easiest is probably to Lease Purchase a property, and the you can go from there.
You will most likely not be able to purchase it conventionally. But you may be able to use a creative way to get around that issue. But sooner or later you will have to look at your credit issue. There is no time like the present to start a course of action to clean it up.
Start with a copy of all three credit reports and look at your history.
1) is anything wrong?
2) if wrong dispute
3) if right figure out a plan to pay off what you owe
4) if you have absolutely no credit, get a secured credit card.
5) if you have no credit score you would be eligible for an 80%LTV l purchase loan.
You use other people's money (OPM) until you can supply your own. Credit is one form. A partner is another. Flipping a deal to an investor who has stronger credit is another way where you are in and out for a small gain. There are other ways. Go to the library and start reading. Read the articles and posts here. Invest time rather then money at this point.
FIx the credit
1. It take a while so get started.
2. Get a second job if you need more income to pay done the bills
3. Reduce your expenses but making some hard decisions (take the bus, get a roommate, sell stuff, eat less, what ever works in your situation).
If you do the hard work now things will be better in a year or two. Seems like a long time away now but look back 2 years and tell me how close that looks.
