Newbie: REO Direct?

Newbie question but here goes:

I want to buy a local REO. The bank is selling it through a realtor but I don’t trust the realtor! Several times he has given me conflicting, incorrect, and inconsistent information about the house. I don’t have a buyer agent. Can I deal directly with the bank? What are my options? All help welcome.

    Get a buyers agent and have them deal with the listing agent.

    The bank has no interest in dealing with you directly.
