Lis Pendens Help

DATA profile photo

I am in need of some help...I am in Northern Michigan and have been to three courthouses in my area. Not one person has been of any help in finding any pre-forclosure information. As near as I can tell the local sherriff gets a "notice" from a business in Detroit that seems to be a clearinghouse for attorneys that handle the forclosure procedings. None of the CH's are online so that is no good. The paper is full of FC notices every week. How do I find out about these priot to publication? confused

Thanks in advance.

Maybe your not using the correct term when asking the courthouse. The two popular documents are "Notice of Default" and "Notice of Lis Pendens." If they still don't know what you are talking about, then ask the information desk what do you call the documents that the banks record when a homeowner is behind on their payments and are going to be foreclosed on? and where can you find them?

You might also want to check and see if you can access the information online for your county recorders office or county clerk of courts. You should do a search on www.google.com to see if your county's departments are online.

    Thanks Tanya,

NOD is not in their vocabulary either. On-line is not an option as I live in Podunkville apparently. I will try to bring it down to a more simple level with them...Has anyone ever run into an area where these documents are not filed locally prior to publication.

    Thanks again,
