Inspection Fee Ripping Me Off? What Can I Do

Gyva profile photo

OK, I'm in the process of getting back my forclosed home and the bank said I'm going to have to pay the inspection fee it did on my home. The problem I have is she read off some of the things that they said they had done to the home which is not true. Example, she said they boarded up the windows and thats just straight up not true, I've been by the property several times and there is nothing on the windows. My question is can I negotiate this price or bill with the bank even though I'm at there mercy for getting my home back. The bill is $1400. Can I ask them to prove all they say with the showing of recites and work orders? I would really really like to see the lumber reciete for the windows. Thanks everyone

When a home is 'secured' by a lender's field service company, they don't always use the best of care. If the windows were boarded, there should be some evidence. I recommend taking some photographs that show the window frames (no nail or screw holes). Hold a newspaper with the current date in the photo, too. You may be able to refute the charges.

Good idea! I will do that. but at the same time I don't want to piss off the bank thats making the decision on giving me my home back???

    Catch 22???
