Educate yourself. Read, read and read some more. There are a ton of resources out there that you can use to learn about real estate investing. And of course boards like this really help also.
    Good luck to you

If you don't know that much. I would suggest looking for a REI club near you. This way you can meet other people in your area who are investing. Also since you plan on purchasing at auctions you had better have your assets in order. Where I live you have to put 10% down at winning and then bring a cashiers check within 48 hours.

    Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Caveat Emptor!! Our auction sales require the entire price to be paid in cash by 4:00 the day of the sale-- and there is no assurance of clear title.

Spend $100 bucks on any five books offered on this site, and you will be half way there. Then spend $200-300 to set an appointment with a local foreclosure attorney and let him tell you how it works in your area.

You can do well with foreclosures. But you are usually buying a pig in a poke, and there are certainly other REI techniques that are lower risk when starting off.
