How Long Is The Foreclosure Process?

InActive_Account profile photo

Hi,

I know it is different for every state and everybody's situation can be unique but I want to find out how long in average is the period between Auction (Sheriff Sale) and after NOD or LIS? BTW, I am in Illinois.

Thanks all.
Roland

all i know is PA, but here they notify you of default after about 3 months. then you have a couple months to remedy the situation before they go get the judgment on you and set a date. the date is then set about 5 months from then.

In Utah, you typically have about 4 1/2 months from NOD to sale date.

Hey, I am interested in anyone with N.C. expeirence. I am trying to build a time line for a power point show to show my customers. It should start with the first missed payment to NOD, Trustee to REO to foreclouser.and Sheriff sale. I know each area is different. I am meeting with an attoney next week to try to get some anwser. If anyone has any information it will be greatly appreciated

I research foreclosure properties on the southside of Chgo. I guess I would say maybe 9 months on average but can go much longer if homeowner files bk or comes into court with a strong contract for sale. Remember the court does want to give homeowner an opportuntity to cure the default and so many times the initial court date is continued. In reality I don't think there is an "average". Ever situation is different.
