Has anyone purchased property specifically throught a HOA forclosure? I've been through a standard foreclosure, but is there anything special (other then price) about an HOA foreclosure process.

Not necessarily. In some states the HOA lien stands in the same position as a mechanic's lien, i.e. before the first mortgage and behind the property taxes.
