Can anyone tell me who sets the deposit amount for prop. at sheriff sale? Some counties have 10% across the board others are $1000 to full purchase price regardless of appraised value.
Count your blessings if you can get in for 10%; locally the pickins are slim, we need 100% within 30 minutes AND there's a 6 month redemption period that requires time and/or $$ to negotiate around before possession. On the bright side, often I'm the only investor there...for obvious reasons.

You would have to call the sherriff's dept. in the county you want buy. In my county it is 10% and must be paid in full in 48 hours.
You could also call the clerk of courts.
