De-winterizing

What issues concerning plumbing/mechanical can I expect when flushing pipes etc. for a home that was winterized about 3 years ago and has been vacant since? Any suggestions regarding how to go about this would be appreciated.

depends on what types pipes you have - I had very old steel pipes in one house - say for about 3 years... when the water started it was fine - after about 5 minutes freed up all the rust and plugged all the drains. we ended up taking apart all of the pipes and banging them outside to get the rust out. Now obviously if you have copper or pvc you will not have the rust problem.
