I think there should be a forum to ask the moderators questions and they should have to answer them????????????

No not about any rules. Mostly about all the e-mails I get on my aol account from people asking me questions. If I reply it gets sent back to me undeliverable. i understand that you must go back to this website and reply from here. But that seems too time consuming, because most of the questions are very complex.

Questions like what do you have on? :-o Or what?

Ok, I will be serious now. You sound angry Lori. Whats up?

  • tinman175516th May, 2004

No, I am not angry about anything. Just to know what is acceptable and what is not.

    tinman1755,

Did you have questions about some of the Forum Rules? I'm not sure I understand your question.

Ask away, Lori. Are if you prefer, the moderators of every forum are listed at the top of that forum, so you can pm any one of them that you wish.

    Lori,

Won't this web sites private messages handle answers to complex questions?

I really don't understand what you are getting at, if you want to answer does it matter whether you answer from here or through your own email at AOL? Where does the time consuming part come into play is it when you have to come back to TCI to answer?

A litte more detail or are you saying you should be able to get the persons email and answer them directly at their email address?

    John Locke,
Because I have the ability to wire extremely large amounts of money, and because I have to wire the money due to the nature of my job. I am not able to accept "cookies" which this website requires. So in order to use this website I had to downloan Moziila.
I have to switch back and forth depending on which computer I'm on.
I always receive e-mails but they usually have peoples real name not their screen name. When that happens I have no way to get in touch and some of them I would like to be involved in their offer. But i don't know how to get in touch with the person.

    Lori,

You have a luxury that I don't when it comes to posters contacting me, all you have to do is learn how to do it.

You are not allowed to say "see my profile", however you do have one here and as a matter of fact your web site is listed, so if I were a person who wanted posters to contact me I would have my email address on my web site, which I do, but as a channel partner I cannot list my web site.

Now for all the people who have contacted me asking how do I announce that I will be in so and so on such a date or how do I look for bird dogs, etc., it has been there all the time, if I want to contact someone the first thing I look for is their profile. For those that don't have a web site get serious and get one.

I don't believe that if someone contacts you with a question and you say "see my profile" in a private message it is against the rules at least I haven't found the rule against it.

It is sometimes difficult to answer in the private messages depending if you are posting links etc., to help someone, so I understand some of your problems especially the cookie one.

Lori, is this what you were looking for?

    John,
Yes, most of the problem I have is not the fault of the website. Several times I automatically wrote out a response to a question and sent it, only for it to come back as undeliverable. I have many people e-mail me regarding REI. I don't understand why you have the e-mail function from the website but not back o the website.

I am in the process of switching some of my more secured business endeavers to a different system. So I will be down sizing on the computers. Right now I am working off of 4. Two at home and two at the office.

    Thanks,

I guess I was just venting.

    Lori,

No problem, the system may not be perfect, but overall I think it is the best one out there in discussion board land.

I am sure Joel takes it to heart what the posters here suggest, I have seen many improvements over the years and some mistakes too, the way private messaging works it may be time to take a closer look.

Maybe a request to turn off the notification of pending private messages? Or just a feature that will email you weekly with an amount of outstanding PM's? It wouldnt work for the moderators but the rest of the site would use it I am sure.
Also a suggestion, I set up a free email account just for this site, so that the emails would go there, and not fill up my normal email box. Perhaps that would work until a better system is devised.
I personally feel that a forum for people to ask moderators questions would be redundant considering we are already moderating the forums. If I am asked a direct question I answer it, if an immediate question is that important, I have the PM system, or people that I do business with have my phone number.
