Adding Name To Credit Card To Improve Credit

BoboTheKing profile photo

I have seen this posted, but i need some info that I havent seen. I am considering asking a family member to add me to one of their credit cards. The first question is the most important, but I would like some answers if possible. Thanks in advance.

1. Are there ANY negatives to them for adding me?

2. Percentage wise, what kind of balance should be kept on the card?

3. Percentage wise, how much should be paid towards the balance every month?

4. Is there a specific way to to this, as far as adding my name?

Any other comments are welcome, and I appreciate any answers to these questions.

Regards, Tony.

True enough. If you have a family member willing to issue a card in your name on their account, you should tell them to keep the card. This will rule out any possibility that you might be tempted to use it and negatively affect that person.

No offense intended, but I gave someone a card in their name from my account and I ended up getting my credit messed up and had to cover a large bill for the favor.
