Moved House - Any Guidance?
Anyone ever move a house? I have an "opportunity" that involves a moved house. I have never done this kind of project, so I am at square 1... and relatively clueless. I have emailed/called the town since none of the utilities (water sewer, electric) are hooked up. I hope they can point me in the right direction as to the process, permits required, fees, etc. I am trying to find out if there is already a water and sewer tap to the house. If not, this may be a big expense. The main questions I have are: how do I (or can I) ballpark the costs for utility hook ups, with and without existing lines? Are there problems I can anticipate (e.g. wiring issues, etc.)? The house is about 50 years old.
I do not have this property under contract yet, so no loss if the costs are so high that it is not worth the effort.
My first investment was a moved house and I still live in it. I know the subject inside and out. Am I understanding correctly that the house has already been moved and is on a new foundation?
Well, someone stepped in and plucked this pig, apparently for about $40K. I bet they are going to clean it up and try to "wholetail" it higher. Good luck to them. 3 exterior photos at http://www.photoshow.com/watch/SU7vv4Fy
Wholetailed. This house has been cleaned up and is on the market for $59,900. The lesson in this market: ABC. Always Be Closing.
An update: This house has been completely redone. It is on the market for $126,900.
Did it sell?
Sold 11-19-2009 for $120K. The county property card was also updated so they must have pulled permits, etc., and seems like they did the rehab right.
I didnt think of making such investment in moving house and I dont know whether it will be really good not for us.
Moving house is one of the most stressful events in your life, but these tips might help ease the pressure a little.
Organising everything well ahead of the moving day is the best way to make sure things run smoothly. The countdown should begin six weeks before you move home.
