    Hello Peter

For financial analysis I use Microsoft Excel. There is also a free on-line version called Open Office which is brought to you by the people who believe in open codes. I'll send Joel a note suggesting he post a url but you can probably Google it.

Unfortunately all this gives you is a blank spreadsheet. All the data and the formulas you must develop yourself.

Personally I like doing it that way. Then I know what the assumptions built into the system are. But it could also be that I am just too much of an old dog to want to learn new software tricks. Back when I started in this biz we ran spreadsheets on 1-2-3 on our 286 chip computers where we had an astonishing 256K of RAM "Wow" we thought "who would ever need more computing power than that?".

At the time I was doing these big cash-flow analyses which would look at cash needs by month for 5 years. So I take one to an investory buddy of mine and he looks at it and takes one 81/2x11 page out of the pile. He folds it into thirds so that back of one-third of the sheet is available to me. "Mark", he says, " show me how it works in this much space. If I see it work there then I may be willing to look at all these numbers."

Its still not bad advice, if you cannot do the financial analysis of a project on the back of a business envelope the project is too complicated.

Not the answer you wanted I know but maybe somebody else will come up with something more helpful.
