Check local and fed historical orgs.

Has it been determined to be a historical property?

In san jose, CA, they will discount permits fees adnf give you a preferencial tax (property) tratment.

Have you already started renovating? The availability of grants, etc. goes way down once you've begun construction. Most organizations/government entitites consider these grants to be "seed money" to make projects happen that wouldn't happen otherwise. Once you've started construction they loose interest.

Other than that I haven't done one of these projects in 10 years and any advice I could give is probably hopelessly out of date.
