It can vary with your geographic location, your best bet could be with a piece of software rather then a website, talk to a RE agent or other investors in your area, see where they get there info. Better yet, if you have a friend that is a RE agent have them talk to a title company that they have a good relationship with and see what they can do for you, sometimes if they find out that your an investor and you might do a lot of business with them they will give you the software for free!!

Let me know how it goes!!

    Hi amynewbie

You might want to start at the NYC Dept of Finance.

    Here is their web site.

    http://www.nyc.gov/html/dof/home.html

    Hope this helps

    thanks guys for responding.
john thanks, the first thing i check when farming an area and finding distress properties is the nyc finance page. the page lets me know if they are behind in taxes which these properties are. i just want to get all the info i can quickly to give the leads to an investor before someone else gets the info. i had found a 3fam house in distressed before that in 1995 they paid 225,000 and the brick houses in the area now go for 600,000 and up. since i didnt know how to locate the owners i lost the opportunity to make some money. i passed by this weekend and they are rehabbing it

on to the next possible deal. trying to come up with a good letter to send. free letters here are a bit harsh no offense to the writers.
