Stocks Or Home Equity?

Hey all, great site ton of good info. My wife and I are shopping around for a multi unit to start our venture into the real estate world. We are going to be putting down between 20 & 25 percent of the purchase price for the down payment, should we use our home equity line of credit or cash in some of our stocks???

I used heloc at prime rate on my OO for several of my purchases since it has positive tax benefits. I did cash out some stock for one property but that is because I felt the timing was right and my tax return could handle the stock appreciation. I consider the tax consequences of my RE structure and my long term goals. I also have used the 2.99-4.99% until payoff offers on credit card accounts. Hurts the fico score a bit for awhile, but that is cheap money to me.

Thanks for the reply, we are looking at any and all options. The reason I wanted to cash out some of our stocks is that it's doing really well right now, I'm nervous about it taking a hit.
