Noisy Tenants

bill2009 profile photo

I own a 2-unit property. The 1st unit is on the 1st floor and the 2nd unit is on the 2nd floor. The 1st floor tenants are complaining that the 2nd floor tenants kids are making a lot of noise by running and jumping. I spoke with the 2nd floor tenants several times, but the problem continues. The 1st floor tenants do seem a little sensitive to noise in general. The 2nd floor is all carpeted. What can I do about this ???

It happens between 5pm-6:30pm (for 1 & 1/2 hours) on some but not all days-this is when the 2nd floor gets home. The other issue is that the 1st floor says that the 2nd floor wakes them up at 5:45am many mornings with their running and general noise making. What can I do?

Switch the tenants... Put the tenants in unit one into unit two and visa versa...

You could start a brand new show... Call it tenant swap...

Okay if you’re going to try and fix it, (I wouldn’t) they make soundboard. It’s just as easy as sheetrock to install.

i would also try a commercial grade pad which will cut the foot noise tremendously..

My experience these will work better than blown insulation.
