Independent Closing Agent

JeanMarie profile photo

Hi all,
Recently, I ran into a fellow who is an Independent Closing Agent. He works for various mortgage companies and title companies, travels to the homes, and gets paid to be the closer. He used to be a mortgage broker, and says that he wishes he would have thought of this along time ago. He states that it is very profitable, and that anyone can do it. Have any of you ever dones this? Can anyone tell me exactly what the duties of the closing agent are?
Thanks in advance for your help!
JeanMarie

    Hi Sue,
Thanks for your response. What excatly are the duties of the closer? Is there any information source that you would recommend to become more knowledgable about those duties. The friend that I was referring to was once a mortgage broker. I am a little familiar with the lending business. I would want to study all I could before getting into the buriness. Any advice?
    Thanks again!

I do this as a side business. Average fees are more like $50-125. sometimes more if you can get the package emailed. You meet with the borrower and get the docs signed and notarized. Title company (usually out of state proepares the docs) Do a google search for signing agent and you should find the right websites or PM me for details.
