Electric Updates? Please Help.
Im trying to buy a 3000 sq ft 2 family home in Boston MA. The house was bulit in 1900, and needs electical updating. What is a ballpark range from the worst case to best case for updating the electric. If the whole house needs rewiring etc, would it be possible to be more than 25k dollars. ??? :-?
Nice to meet you ryanhunt1717. If you're willing to pay 25k let me know and I'll come take care of it for you. You should be able to have it done for less than that but it forces more questions. How long do you intend to keep the property? Does it have a basement? Room to walk easily in the attic? Is it one floor or two? Does it already have seperate services? Do you intend to replace any wall coverings? All of this will play a role in the time of labor. Estimates will not cost you anything. You may want to run a couple contractors through before you commit if it is a concern for you.
Also you'll want to know if its a plank or frame house. If its frame does it have blown in insulation.
It will make a difference in time and cost.
