jumperdk1 profile photo

hi, you guys might laugh at this question but i dont understand what the point of a deed is. As far as i understand it, is that the deed states who has title. title is another word for ownership and is not actually a document. can somebody expain exactly how this works?

Let me try. I'm not an attorney, but I don't think you are seeking a 'legal' answer.

Title is Ownership, and all that is required to demonstrate proof of ownership.

A Deed is a written instrument (evidence) that conveys an interest in realty...

Without the Deed, it's tough to prove ownership... and generally you can't sell something that you do not own...
