Best Books To Read?
I've been trying to read up on the stuff on this board for hours and hours and a lot of stuff still escapes me...I was curious as to what books I can read that would really lay out all the basics and then eventually get specific. It's pretty hard to understand tactics and such when you aren't familiar with the terms...should I read Rich Dad Poor Dad ? Any help would be verrry appreciated...thanks guys!
Rich Dad Poor Dad is definitely a good read. In fact most of his books are worth reading. Also check out his advisor series, particularly "real estae riches" for a good, general book about investing.
I am currently reading a couple of books about creating business plans and when I finish those I have "landlording" on deck.
Sometimes I go to the bookstore and just browse the real estate section. I pick up books that look interesting and skim them for 20 minutes or so and if they look worthwhile I will either purchase them or try to find them at the library.
It can never hurt to read more.

If you are looking for general CREI understanding, You could try the "Rich Dad books. Robert Kiyosaki's material is extremely general and not many specifics are discussed. You could try the TV offer for Carleton Sheets' program. That should by no means be the end of your research, but it is a good place to start. Carleton does a good job of explaining the basics of many aspects of REI, and will get the creative thought processes started. After that, you could focus on a more specific area of investing, and then we could suggest a course, or book that will focus on that aspect of REI.
The most important aspect of all of this is that you start somewhere.

I'm currently reading "The Weekend Millionare's Secrets to Inesting in Real Estate."
Cheesy title aside, the book's a good, rudimentary guide to buying income properties wholesale, and a window into the world of successful REI techniques and strategies.

I was suprised to not see any of Russ whitney's books on there. I liked his Building wealth and Millionaire mentor books. I found for general info the Rich dad books are good but you never find the nitty gritty in them. I also liked Greg Perry and Bronchick books
