Becoming An Agent For Yourself.

I just wondering today what it takes to work for yourself as a real estate agent instead of a larger company? Just wondering why more agents dont do this.

thanks

i decided to go for the RE agent track. luckily in CA, if you have a 4 year degree, they wave the experience requirement. you can find any number of online schools to get you through the required RE coursework. you need to get through 3 courses for a salespersons license, 8 for the brokers license.

since i am primarily doing business in north carolina, i decided to compare the experience requirements for the two states. interestingly NC requires experience no matter what, unless you have a license from another state. CHACHING! so as soon as i have my license from CA sent to me, i can apply for the NC license as well.

i think the trick is to find a local broker willing to sponser you, and/or just give you a great cut rate on doing your own deals, if you dont want to do the full broker route. probably easier if thats the only reason you want it.
